Tokoroa has been called the “home of affordable homes”. That’s hardly surprising when you consider that the average house price is just $225.000.
Tokoroa has all the amenities you’ll find in larger centres while retaining the relaxed community atmosphere of a classic New Zealand town. There are no pretensions here – just honest, down to earth hospitality.
Unlike some of the major centres around the country, when it comes to schools, Tokoroa spoils you for choice.
There are nine Primary Schools and two thriving Colleges. Between them they cater for students from New Entrants right through to Year 15. Toi Ohomai, one of the country’s largest tertiary education providers, has a campus in Tokoroa.
There are plenty of eateries to choose from too. Plus the town has a large heated community pool, a recently renovated library, a leisure centre and a 3D cinema. And then there are all of the outdoor activities, including the Waikato River Trails, Cougar Mountain and pristine lakes.
Engineering, forestry and farming are the main industries and tourism is on the rise. Or you can work in Hamilton, Rotorua or Tauranga and live in Tokoroa for a fraction of the price.
